Connecting
to
the
City
of
Grand
Forks
electrical
service:
Temporary
Service
For
a
new
construction
service,
a
temporary
power
supply
is
generally
required.
This
entails
the
City
crew
connecting
an
electrical
meter
on
a
temporary
service
pole,
supplied
by
the
electrical
contractor,
at
the
construction
site.
Prior
to
the
connection
actually
being
made,
the
owner
or
an
agent
must
apply
for
the
service
at
City
Hall.
This
application
must
be
accompanied
by
an
affidavit
from
a
certified
electrician
stating
that
the
connection
has
been
approved
and
is
authorized
for
hook-up.
The
charge
to
connect
a
temporary
service
is
$100.00
plus
GST
for
a
total
of
$105.00.
When
construction
is
complete,
the
temporary
power
pole
is
removed
and
the
owner/tenant
must
apply
to
City
Hall
for
new
service
as
detailed
below.
Existing
Service Connection
&
Reconnection
Charges
To
have
an
existing
electrical
account
transferred
into
a
new
owner
or
tenant's
name,
the
individual
must
apply
for
an
account
at
City
Hall.
The
cost
of
applying
for
an
electrical
account
for
an
existing
service
is
$30.00
plus
GST
for
a
total
of
$31.50 for both setting up the new account and to cancel the existing one.
An
owner
can
give
written
authorization
to
have
the
utility
account
mailed
care
of
his
tenant.

New Service Installations
or
Upgrading
of
Existing
Service
The
application
for
the
following
connections
must
have
an
affidavit
from
certified
electrician
stating
the
permanent
or
upgraded
service
is
certified
for
hook-up.
