No. of Elected Officials: The Regional District is comprised of five Electoral Areas and eight municipalities. The five Electoral Area Directors are elected directly to the Board by residents of the Area. The eight municipalities each appoint a Director from the elected councillors. These appointments are for a one-year term and are renewed at the Statutory Meeting in December each year.

Senators
In Canada, there are ordinarily 105 Senators appointed by the Governor General on the advice of the Prime Minister. Senators are chosen to represent the various provinces and territories of Canada and are appointed until the age of 75. British Columbia currently has five senators: Sen. Jack Austin, Sen. Pat Carney, Sen. Ross Fitzpatrick, Sen. Mobina Jaffer and Sen. Gerry St. Germain.
